Collection rules
- Only sites whose terms of use and robots.txt allow it are collected, at the pace they ask for (at least ten seconds between two pages).
- We keep the facts of an ad (title, employer, place, contract, dates) and the link to it, never its text: the description is used to recognise skills, then discarded.
- Each job keeps track of its source, the run that read it and the fingerprint of the original page. No figure is estimated or filled in.
- An ad that disappears from the site's list is counted as withdrawn; it no longer counts as active.
- An ad whose deadline has already passed, or which is a procurement tender rather than a job, is set aside: it enters no figure.
- An ad for a job outside the region (in France, for example) does not count for a covered country; a remote ad has no city.
- Below 30 active jobs, a country or occupation family gets no published breakdown: “insufficient data”.
What these figures do not say
- Online ads are only part of hiring: the informal sector, word of mouth and public competitive exams largely escape them.
- An ad published identically on the sites of several countries counts in each of them, but once overall. Remote ads are often in this case.
- Classification uses the title, with explicit rules: an unusual title stays “unclassified” rather than guessed.

When the site offers them, these are the criteria the employer picked from a closed list (education level, experience level). Otherwise they are read in the ad's text (“Bac+3”, “Bachelor's”, “5 years of experience”). A field of study is kept only when it follows the mention of a diploma or training.
